printer - router.

what ive got :

laptop
desktop x 2
router (belkin)
printer (built in wireless)

current setup


desktop - cable modem - router - laptop


can i add the printer direct to the router? if so how...

you dont connect the printer to the router as such, think of your router as a roundabout, all it is doing is allowing traffic to communicate to each other. what I would do is set a static ip on the printer then ether use your driver disc to connect to the printer or manually add a printer, to do this go to add remove printers/ do not autodetect, select local printer, select create port, select tcpip port and pop in the ip address of the printer, then add the driver when prompted. do this on all computers

cheers mate.

ive done it this way. might change to ur set-up
install the printer on my main desktop, and shared it, then added it on my laptop, seems to b working fine, only downside is the main desktop needs to b on.
