iPad playing AVI files

whats the low down on these ipads

was in apple shop and very keen on one to use on my travels

whats the story with loading movies ie avi files etc as i know there is no usb
 
1) You can use cinexplayer. It plays most avi's with no conversion required.
2) You can use air video to stream from a pc

both work well.
 
Yes both available from the apps store.

Cinexplayer is free
Air video has a free as well as a paid version.
 
Cinexplayer doest play all avi files yxplayer2 much better.
 
O player HD is the best I've found. You can also stream avi over http without conversion if you've got a server set up on your nas or pc.
 
The best thing that just came out is VLC media player for ipad, allowing it to play many video files, and it is free on the app store, just connect ipad to pc, go to apps tab scroll down to file sharing, place the movie files under vlc and done, this is i think the best way of doing it, no conversion required or internet, just drag and drop.
