after having 5 faulty n95s they have sent me a n95 8gb i had the tom tom sat nav on it from about a year ago from this site is this still the latest tom tom for thease phones thanks

its not the latest but afaik it is the only one that supports the internal gps. it works fine on my n95 8gb

I used Sygic McGuider to get me from Stoke - Caister - Stoke this week and found it much better to use than TT. Might be worth a look. I'm definately going to be putting it on my my PDA and see if it's as good on that as it is on my N95 8GB.

Have you got a link to this so we can all have a look

Many thanks

Go to Pirate Bay, search for McGuider, the one you want is Sygic McGuider 7.70 + Europe Maps 2009 [WinMobile-Symbian] Don't worry about size as it contains all Europe maps in individual folders, so you can just put GB on if you want which I think was around 182mb.

Probably available on IPMart or GSM Forum too from rapidshare, megadownload etc.....

Thanks got it but cant work out how or were to put maps or even activate it properly there was no readme file with it so must be doing something wrong any info please.

INSTALATION:
Check your phone is charged or put it on charge
Connect phone to computer in pc suite
Open your new Mcguider file and double click "sygic McGuider 7.70.1467"
double clic "setupsymbianS60.sis"
introduce password (Club Nokia Symbian • Portal)
Click accept
Click open and install to phone memory.
When installed disconect phone and reconect in data transfer mode.
open my computer on desk top and double click on removeable drive (f:) or whatever your phone is. leave this screen open in half screen
If its not still open, double click file "sygic McGuider 7.70.1467" to open it and you'll see 4 files, 3 of which you need to transfer to phone memmory. the drag and drop method i find the easiest, for that reason we have the 2 pages open on our moniter ( phone memmory and sygic McGuider 7.70.1467)
The 3 files to move are the DRIVE - MAPS and RES files.
Once you'v transferred the 3 of them to your phone memory disconnect your phone from computer and close all files on computer

Re-open your McGuider file on desk top and double click file SDKGPub (keygen) insert password (Club Nokia Symbian • Portal) leave open on desk top, we'll come right back to it
On your mobile goto applications and open sygic mcguider
Answer no to first message
Select language: English (Brittish)
Select voice prompt Betty or simon (Betty been female and simon male)
On screen message should read: "could not find licence file for this map, Make sure your s.d. card is not write protected"
press ACTIVATE.
on screen message: "could not find correct activation code for this map"
Press ACTIVATE
On Screen message: "please select the activation method"
press MANUAL
On screen message: your device code is **********
NOW you need to put this code into the kegen you have open on your desk top in the white id box and press calc ( code is case sensitive)
The key gen generates a code in the all europe map box
Back to your mobile. screen should still say your device code is **********
Press ACTIVATE. Screen should go white and message appears asking for activation code. put the newly generated all europe map code in and press done
Fingers crossed it should say "your map was successfully activated"
Press CONTINUE
Next screen should be "select distance units. YOUR CHOICE
Press NEXT
Time format: YOUR CHOICE
Press NEXT
Longitudes and latitude YOUR CHOICE ( mine is degrees)
press DONE
NEXT SCREEN: "searching for gps device" !!!!!! DONT PRESS ANYTHING WHILE IT DOES THIS !!!!!!! It only takes a few seconds and it will find the inbuilt gps chip.
Once thats done SKIP the next screen as we now need to load the maps. You can look at it later on in the menu. Close sygic McGuider

TO LOAD THE MAPS COULDNT BE EASIER. As weve unlocked the "basemap" It now acceps any countrys maps without any further unlocking. Just follow these steps:

Connect your phone to pc in data transfer mode and double click removeable drive (f:) or whatever your phone is. Find the file called maps and double click to open it
It should contain 4 files: Iberia.mlm - licence - Europe.mlm and a wcl file.
open McGuider file on desk top and open the zip file for the map. Inside there should be a file called "GBR" Simply drag this file and drop it into the open maps file on your phones memory.
And if you download more maps for other countries just do the same, copy the file to the maps file in your phone memory
AND HEY PRESTO. Its done.
Disconnect your phone go to applications and open McGuider, If it asks what maps to use, choose multimap europe map wait untill it loads and your set.
at this point if you want, you dont have to. exit McGuider and start it up again, this only serves to show you the start up screen and nothing else, now its fully funcional.
