no sound on usb stick

hi im new to all this and dont do codes and stuff i need simple terms and words used greatly appreciated :Biggrin2:

i have a film o my usb memory stick which plays with sound on 2 laptops in the house, however....when the film was downloaded there was only sound on 1 laptop....so i have now downloaded klite codec standard pack which now the film plays on both laptops with sound on both of them.... :Biggrin2:

but when i put it in my tv it plays the film but theres no sound :grayno:

please can you help i really want 2 watch ted thanks

You need to check that the TV supports the format - check the extension on the file on the USB stick (mp4, wmv, etc) then check your TV supports that type

film is a .avi the book of tv doesnt say its only 2weeks old

There are a lot of film formats about and it's sometimes a bit fiddly getting them to play properly with codecs and whatnot.

Can you play it on a laptop using the TV as a monitor? You'll need a cable but it might be useful in future.

Or try converting it on the laptop to say .mp4 then try that on the tv via usb.

check to see if there is a firmware update for your tv
failing that,as willin says convert it using dvdfab (others are available)
