Hi all.

Need some advice really....

Looking at getting a new PC... budget is around £2500-£2700
Looking mainly for gaming and video editing

I am looking at the 3930k 2011 CPU with a corsair h100 for cooling and 2 gtx 680's in SLI and an asus rampage x79 motherboard

Anybody have any suggestions as there is so much hardware out there... BTW i am staying clear of socket 1155

Cheers

SSD for your main drive with an additional mechanical SATA for data etc... WD Velociraptor as an example for a mech sata.

That's a fair wedge of cash. Any particular reason why you rule out 1155? I know video is heavily threaded, but games aren't. I can't imagine you'd need the 40 PCI-e lanes of 2011.

Anyways, add in a Samsung 830 SSD for the boot drive (128, 265 or 512GB as budget allows). A +1200W branded PSU. If going for RAID the LSI MegaRAID range is a good hardware RAID controller.

Cases are always subjective, but I'd suggest an aluminium chassis or 90° rotated motherboard mount (e.g. Silverstone's FT02 or Raven 3).

Cheers for the replies lads... Reason i'm going for the 2011 is so I can have the 6 core cpu and got a few 1155 boards with 2500k ect so want something new.

Going to be using a coolermaster haf x 942 case so I can fit the corsair h100 cooler radiator in the top.

Now are the corsiar 1200w modular psu's any good? I have around £250 for psu so any recommendations would be helpful

I have a 750 Modular and had a 650 prior to that.

I like the fact that you can choose your cable connections and cut down on clutter.
