come on peeps i need to know where i stand on taking my cd writer back to the shop as it has stopped reading cd's and does not spin. i have the reciept and its only 3 months old can i just get a replacment or what? i dont want them to try and fob me off about testing it and all that!

need an answer tonight peeps (12-12-01)

thanks all

Could say to them it was a presant and you wanted to test it before you gave it to someone so you got a specilist in to fit it as you dont know how too and he had finished and said it dont work.
its worth a try, rather than doing nothing.

anymore ideas? what i really need to know is do they have to replace it straght away???

your consumer rights allow you to return any product that is not capable of doing the purpouse it is intended for for a period (a minimum off) 12 months from the purchase date. Your receit is your answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. also note that any purchases will quote that " your statutory rights will not be affected " THIS IS WITH THE EXEPTION OF CARDMAN

if it is a yamaha they always insist in sending it away back to yamaha...got mine swapped that was because i bought it the same day that it was knakered

I cant see aproblem with this it is faulty just retuen it and request a new one there should not be a problem i know people who return goods all the time just before the years warrenty runs out and they get new updated devices and another years warrenty

Likewise, I cant see any probs in returning it if still under warranty, however they may not exchange it on the spot. Yamaha and Plextor writers now come with a warranty where you dont take goods back, someone calls at your address to do the repairs or to take away.

Got me money back so tomorrow im off to the shops to get my 16x plextor £120 thanks all

why a plextor?
for about 80 squids u can buy a lite on
24x10x40 but make sure the model number ends in 2b
as this model allows u to burn safedisk v2
in other words it is a plextor in disguise

u dont have to take my advise though
happy burning

A wise choice my friend. I took my Liteon 24 back and paid the difference for a Plextor 16. It would not copy CDG even though it says OXO on the box. Had many coasters but now all is well.
