EPG programs add EPG data to cache (RAM).
EPG cache is saved to EPG database (storage device) on graceful restart or if you click on the save button.
They are two different processes. Are you sure you have enough RAM, otherwise a swap file may be needed.

Please check the epg importer log itself for error, just in case it is not visible on the screen.

Just for reference purposes:

* Where is the epgimport.log

Open the XMLTV importer.
Press now the Menu button on your remote.
Make the choice to see the log.
Now you see the log. This log can be saved, and you find the saved fle in /tmp/

an update

I have set up cacheflash, a swap file on a USB flash pen and did notice the download fails with the error message no space left

from the logs first few attempts its downloading to the /tmp folder on the internal flash however after a few attempts it downloads to the usb flash pen /media/hdd

no sure why it saves to USB flash after a few attemps.

Thats i wierd one but if you have set the epg to download to USB and the usb drive is mounted correctly it should do just that download to USB.

If you have not yet after setting it up to save to usb do a reboot.

after each settings I did a reboot

format usb flash and mount - reboot
create swap file - reboot
setup epg importer to save to USB - reboot

forgot to add this issue is happening on a H3.2TC

I am going to force another import see what happens

rebooted box and did a manual import, it failed using internal flash

waited 5 mins tried again and now its downloading to the USB flash

It expands the flash of your box on to the usb drive giving it more space.

Its a good suggestion actually as you could then let it download the epg to flash.
You sound surprised Mr ferret ( Thanks kindly ) Mr les 👍

can I use flash expander to move the /tmp folder to the USB drive
