just got lappy back wednesday night so im back online full time again lol.
seems like i've been waiting ages for it (less than a week).

It was the power connection in the back, came loose and gradually got harder and harder to keep connected till eventually it wouldint connect at all.

Took it into a computer repair shop who said they wanted £160 to fix it: shocked2
so told them where to stick it (actual words were "errr ill come back" lol)
and took it to a guy down the road who soldered it back in for £35.
