There has been a lot of confusion on two other forums about a new patch for the Spiderbox HD receivers, to prevent the same confusion here I would like to explain just how it works.

The new patch called IKS simply adds the facility to the Spiderbox to connect to another server IT DOES NOT ALTER the Spiderbox in any other way except to rename Ethernet to VAS. Ethernet (if you still have it) will continue to function as it always has and you will have a second connection which will open a LOT of other packages which you dont have at this time (I wish I did).
I have nothing to do with this at all I'm simply trying to avoid misunderstanding on this forum.
There is a charge of 50 euro's and payment has to be by PayPal however at this time PayPal are not accepting payments so anyone wishing to take up the new software will have to wait until the PayPal bug has been corrected.
I will post more details when I can.

the bubble has finally burst then?

it was only a matter of time

copied from another forum, similar info appearing everywhere though, but, at the end of the day, why should any 'providor' give couttless thousands of connections to a maintained server away for free? it was ALWAYS going to be the case that after xxxx amount of time, spiderbox owners WOULD have to pay to continue receiving their 'gift', and anyone who thought otherwise is daydreaming

Ethernet Post by boxer21

It appears that the server software has been disabled. It can be a reaction to the issuing of the VASIKS patch. If so. I really see no logic in what they have done. The ethernet service could have continued to be a source of revenue for them. Maybe they will return it to service and maybe not. Some people appear to have no commom sense.
In any case, I have had an emergency teleconference with VASIKS and we agreed that some option should be made available to provide continuation of free service to Spiderbox users who have bought new Spiderboxes from approved dealers and who have not received 12 months of extra channels.
We have yet to work out how this can be done. It may require proof of purchase in exchange for a IKS key of some to-be-determined duration.
That is, of course, if the server stays offline. At this time, I can not say for sure one way or another. If it stays off, then the people in charge of it can only be described as complete idiots.
I will keep you all posted with any developments.

If that post is from Boxer26 then I am disgusted at the whole thing. He seems to be claiming that the Ethernet server has been in some way disabled by VASKIS and to re-enable it is beyond his abilities.
If that is true then it is clearly a case of sabotage OR collusion between Boxer and VASKIS, I have PM'd Boxer26 for an explanation and have so far received no answer, in honesty I doubt I will get a satisfactory reply but NO reply will reinforce my view of collusion between Boxer and VASKIS.
I am in no way criticizing the service being offered by the IKS (VASKIS) patch, as it looks very good value for money BUT if the loss of Ethernet is down to the release of IKS patch in any way then it will be a sad day for the business ethics of two companies and make any posts by Boxer or VASKIS total fiction.

The Bubble bust after 12 months from what i heard..
Some of the bubbles like 90% of them Busted after 3 years ..Not bad thing...
Imported is still is some solution on way....
No one should pretend all ways to be free!

the top of my post said this

to get a full 12 months of a 'free' gift is quite an achievement, to get 3 years worth is excellent, but i have ALWAYS said, that if buying solely for the gift, if you cannot afford to lose every penny spent, then DO NOT buy it, as NOTHING is free for ever

if i have a spiderbox 7000hd and i have a fixed dish andi have never recieved any free gifts [ because im quite dumb and wouldnt know how to go about it ] . will i be affected? all i use my spiderbox for is to operate my c-line and to get hd television.

a post by the same user that i copy / pasted earlier in the thread, again from another board

Ethernet will never return

I'm afraid we have been betrayed.
CW server support for the ethernet patch has been terminated. They have decided to support a different receiver and have modified the ethernet software my team and I developed to make patches for it.
I was wrong in my assumption that the VASIKS patch was a consideration. Nothing we have done would have influenced these people for good or for bad.
I will continue to attempt to get the source code we need to be independent of these people, but it will be difficult and the return of our ethernet function will not happen at any time soon.

i have had emails about this new receiver, which was always a similer product to the spiderbox, theres threads here on DW about people patching their mvision receivers to use spiderbox firmware, but the emails ive been receiving since all this started with the spiderboxes are

The New Mvission is diffident cpu and is 32 dollars stb from China ( not same Korean Manufacture )...just to warn some people...They never are the same..I know the manufacture when they produce Now.

Dirty trick for anyone who has just bought a spiderbox or not long purchased one.
I take it that this is the end for the spiderbox?
As there is no longer ethernet to tempt new buyers there are many other stb's on market now to choose from.
The spiderbox has been an excellent receiver and good quality build, and if the IKS patch works for the amount of time it's meant to the IKS patch is a bargain at 50 euro.
Time will tell, but doesn't seem right for new owners.

If it's of any interest I found this on another forum whilst looking for info about this IKS patch:

"I received this message from a good mate of mine "Hi m8, I signed up for a year. It came to about 42.68£.

Had a quick look round, up to now I've found - s*y germany, digitalb, tnt sat, polsat, nova sport, nova movies, digiturk, jsc sport & a few porn channels. Still got a few more sats to check. No glitches but does take a second or so to open channels"

Evidently to get the patch (if you want it and assuming PayPal problems are sorted) it seems (?) that VIP (paid for) membership is required to 'the other forum'

Hi manic 01, the other forum the one that has the IKS patch always points out that the 50 euro's is for VIP membership NOT for the patch or key.
Anyone can download the patch it's free, if you decide to become a VIP member and pay the VIP membership fee of 50 euro's then you will receive a free key to unlock the full potential of the patch.
I post this just to keep the record straight the 50 euro's is for VIP membership not the patch.

So really as the patch is free and *if* it ceases to work at any time then, as you haven't paid for it, you can't complain.
All you voluntarily paid €50 for was for VIP membership NOT the patch/unlock ley

Well yes I suppose you could look at it that way, but since when has viewing encrypted channel come with any guarantee? it cant be done.
If you dont want to risk 50 euro's then dont no one is forcing anyone to do that, if you want to stick with the Spiderbox patch great do it, even members who pay for lines have no guarantee that they will continue.
Life is full of risks, it's what makes it fun!!

Lets just clairify this shall we, 50 euro for vip membership.
Membership gives you what other than IKS key?
I have no issue with the IKS being 50e as its a bargain if it lasts.
It's the issue of spiderbox owners who have only just bought their stb's that will need to pay again.
