How do I know if a RAM is a server RAM ??

Hi all,

been a nightmare.. after all the carry on fleabay, finally got Hynix RAM but Im doubtful that it might be a server ram.. (Im saying this as I have not bought a motherboard yet caz the RAM I bought is a DDR2 RAM and my motherboard does not support DDR2.

so please can anyone advise me how to check if it is a server ram ???

it is Hynix 2GB 1Rx4 PC2 3200r-333-12

just a quick 1, troopy has answered you question but how to tell if u have the memory in your hands registered or server memory has the slots/cut outs in a different place. it wont fit into a normal pc slot and similarly normal pc memory wont fit into a server board.
 
You cab't just say whether it's server ram.

The difference comes down to the motherboard used....
some use error corrected/noncorrected ram..
some use unbuffered/buffered ram....

it depends purely on the motherboard.
You can get servers with various types.
Check the manual of the motherboard you intend to use.
