hi guys,

I'm looking at getting a new home cinema system and would like some advice.

I'm thinking of going for a Dolby Atmos system and have a budget of around £1000- £1500 will I be able to get a good system for this kind of budget or should i wait and save up some more before buying.

I would also like some advice in regards to what receiver to buy and what speakers to get.

I'm thinking of going for a 5.1.2 system.

any suggestions anyone has in regards to speakers and receivers would be much appreciated.

thanks in advance.

My advice go down to your local audio specialist if you have something like richersounds they should be able to give you a better idea. Would go for a separate amp and speakers. Personally in my living which isn't massive I have an old onkyo amp nothing fancy no network ability but does the job and some tannoy 5.1 speakers which are great for the money.

In my opinion, first of all - forget about such thing like Dolby Atmos with your budget. Every such certification of a device is very expensive, so you have to pay for it considerable amount in the price. Better save yourself the money for some reasonable parameters of the home system (sound/picture quality, used premium materials instead of cheap plastic, etc.) - cause in the end, this is what you will be using - not the certification of any kind, isn't it? :)

For that sort of money you could get a half decent atomos setup. I would look at in ceiling for the Atmos not the upward firing. I have Monitor Audio Speaker (CT165) - Ceiling-Speakers.co.uk as my rears god I wish I had dropped a couple more in now for Atmos. I have q Acoustics 2020i for the front and the matching centre. depending on what space you have go for the 2010i for the rears. Q Acoustics 2020i Cinema

Now the amp again I have tried Yammy, onkyo & denon. I always go back to denon Denon AVRX2200W Black | Atmos AV Receiver | Richer Sounds

All in your budget :)

Happy hunting..

Why? Pretty good advice for a first post imho. Dolby Atmos is a helluva faff to get set up correctly, and it's debatable whether the benefits are worthwhile unless you're going to spend several times the OP's budget.

I think a simpler system with better quality components would be more cost effective.

So the items I suggested won't give the desired effect at the budget he wanted to spend? And tbh the fun part is getting the system set up to how you want it.

I have heard an atmos setup on a similar budget all be it the next denon up and the 265's instead of the 165's and it certainly made me want to add to my set up :)
