hi all, my son was bought a ps3 for xmas but it was only the 12gb vers, ive tried a external hdd n for some reason i cannot point the games to start from ext hdd,
is it poss to take my hdd out of a sky + box an insert it into the ps3?

No, you need a 2.5" drive for to put in a PS3 the ones out of a sky+ box are 3.5"

you also have to buy a caddie to put the hdd in, before inserting it in the ps3

sorry for the late reply thnx guys looks like ill b buying a new hdd then, also how would i go about playing back up games on thie ps3, this is the first one ive ever had always bin a 360 guy lol

U can't play backup games on that model ps3. Its impossible
