Guitarists - Art or Noise?

Cheers guys :) gotta live gig on there I wouldent mind

use the site i just posted mate its mint, you can even convert to a different format ;)

Shredding is the most dull type of guitar playing there is. It usually just impresses other shredders. The guys definately have some skill and an awesome technique but it means nothing when it's mindless noodling with no thought gone into phrasing. It usually doesn't impress non-guitarists. One guitarist that has a good balance between phrasing and speed though is Eric Johnson. Cliffs of Dover is an awesome example.

Any guy can knock Yngwie off the spot, btw. He's one of the most dull and repetitive guitarists I can think of.

Oh, and the guy in the second clip has a pretty rubbish amp, which explains a lot

When it comes to guitarists like Yngwie, Vai and Satch, I would say this is one of their best examples of playing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmTtxE1SU1c ;)

the best guitar player in the world, member of the best band in the world.

the one and only joe perry [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpTPB9CN0Vo&mode=related&search=[/ame]

when you hear an aerosmith song on an album or single, you are hearing it exactly as they played it.

listen to the guitar solo on love in an elevator (or any aerosmith track)

and tell me he aint the best in the world at the moment.

he is nowhere near the best i`d say its a toss up between Dave gilmour or John Squire

Joe Perry's playing is nothing innovative or special. He's not really a guitar hero amongst guitarists. Some of the best guitarists still here would be guys like Eric Johnson, BB King, Jeff Beck, John Butler etc.

But to each to his own.....
