GingaDaddy has closed down, after NZBMatrix has been taken down it looks like they are all going to close down one by one.
I'm installing a vm now with ubuntu to stick newznab on it. For everyday use like tv shows and films I shouldn't need more than 30 days retention and limit the groups to index so hopefully will keep all overheads down. If Mick has the resources a bigger community index in the VIP section would be fantastic
Are you sure it's not just the gingadaddy forum that's down? As I can log in to the search page.

Why just in VIP area? it should be in the share zone...
Nothing is agreed, it was a thought, but even if there was (and that's a long shot) it's something you would need to put some restrictions around, you couldn't (and certainly if it was me) wouldn't just publish to the masses. This is exactly why sites like nz*matri* get shut down, because anyone and everyone think they can just jump on the bandwagon without anything given back.
Using VIP as an example is a way of citing people prepared to commit to somewhere, rather than randoms turning up only when they want something, although it could be equally something like a private site with invitation only, as is the case with others.
Regardless, it's speculation at the moment, and me speaking only for myself, I'm doing it to see how it operates and if I can use it at a personal level. IF (and it's a very big highly unlikely IF), I was to make it public, it would be selective.
I get what your saying but I asked for my VIP status to be removed, my choice and I haven't just turned up for nzb's

I think Exos has summed it up perfectly.
After an unexpected trip to the hospital I'm now about to install newznab... surely nothing else could go wrong today
Get your wallet out mate, in order to list the releases you need to get the regex lists which basically needs you to donate. It's only £10, but just done it now to see what it populates (this is why it didn't show any releases for me)

All up and running. There are 2 regex's in the classic install and if I test them against the few groups I've activated, it returns a decent list. Running the update_releases php is where it seems to be going wrong and not returning any releases. Too knackered to look into it more now. I'll have a look in the morning
