AdBlock Plus
http://adblockplus.org/en/

Removes adverts from sites like facebook and yahoo (esp those annoying buzzing adverts), whilst still providing full functionallity of comercial sites like amazon, play.com etc.

Allows you to block any adverts that do get through, and v. few do (I've only ever had banner adds slip past).

You can, if you need to, disable Adblock Plus completly, across a single site, or for just one page.

URL Suffix extension
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/443

Some of you may know that pressing [Ctrl] + [enter] will auto append http://www. to the start and .com the the end of words/phrases entered in to the address bar in both Firefox and IE. But did you know that in Firefox [shift] + [enter] adds .net or [Ctrl] + [Shift] + [enter] adds .org?

This add on lets you change the default settings of all of these. So if you don't visit many .org sites you can change it to .co.uk, or .tv, or any other TLD you want...

This is my collection of plugins.

Stumbleupon

My favourite plugin. Everyone who I know to have tried this uses it regularly. Join a community of millions who recommend pages they love, and you recommend pages you love. In the end it makes a massive database of brilliant websites, categorised so that you can find the ones that will interest you. All you have to do is click 'Stumble' and stumble upon something that you will like.

Fasterfox

Do all those speed fixes that are floating around blogs quickly and automatically.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1269

Download Status Bar

Never have to have that annoying popup downloads window again! (That got you listening). You can integrate all the download information plus more into a tiny bar at the bottom of your window. This plugin I could not live without.

IE Tab

Allows you to run internet explorer within a firefox page. Good for web developers who do not wish to keep opening both firefox and internet explorer or for those odd pages that will not work in firefox.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1419

Tab Mix Plus

Possibly my favourite plugin next to stumbleupon - Allows you to add lots of great and needed features to your tabs. For example colour unopened tabs and make tab multirows when they overflow.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1122

Enjoy them all

Allows you to execute common commands (like page forward/backward, close tab, new tab) by mouse gestures drawn over the current webpage, without reaching for the toolbar or the keyboard.
You can also use click-only "rocker" gestures which are even faster than drawn gestures.

My personal favourites are hold right button and click left to for BACK / Hold left and click right for FORWARD. Also hold the right mouse button and drag upwards on a link to open in a new tab.

Video DownloadHelper https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006

DownloadHelper is a tool for web content extraction. Its purpose is to capture video and image files from many sites.

Just surf the Web as you are used to, when DownloadHelper detects it can do something for you, the icon gets animated and a menu allows you to download files by simply clicking an item

For instance, if you go to a YouTube page, you'll be able to download the video directly on your file system. It also works with MySpace, Google videos, DailyMotion, Porkolt, iFilm, DreamHost and others.

Can't forget the good ol' Web Developer Toolbar https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/60

Adds a menu and a toolbar with various web developer tools.
Works with: Firefox: 1.0 – 2.0.0.*

Also another good one is MinimizeToTray https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2110

Minimizes Mozilla windows into the system tray. Also includes a right clickable tray icon menu to further load only the windows you want visible.

MinimizeToTray's extension options allow you to configure your desired behavior. The three options are:
1) Always minimize to the tray instead of to the taskbar.
2) Minimize to tray on close.
3) Require a double click to restore from the tray.
Works with: Firefox: 1.0 – 2.0.0.*

Nice topic - i use lots of these little plugins on firefox. My personal fav has got to be Del.icio.us - which basically you import your bookmarks into it and it stores them on the web for you to be able to retrieve wherever you are on any pc with firefox installed.

Short description -

- Search and browse your bookmarks
- Access your bookmarks from any computer at any time
- Keep your bookmarks organized with tags
- Share your bookmarks with friends or anyone on the Web
- Import your existing Firefox bookmarks

I got this about a week ago, and has helped me a lot.

This great tool allows you to switch to Internet Explorer with just one click and then switch back to Firefox.

I use it when I'm watching footy on the net because of Firefox, some of the embedded video player on a web page might not load, so IE solves that.

You can find more information about the IE Tab here.

Update Checker

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/920

Tired of clicking the reload button?
Page Update Checker is a FireFox extension that automatically checks to see if web pages have changed.

No Script

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722

Winner of the "2006 PC World World Class Award", this tool provides extra protection to your Firefox.
It allows JavaScript, Java and other executable content to run only from trusted domains of your choice, e.g. your home-banking web site, and guards the "trust boundaries" against cross-site scripting attacks (XSS).
Such a preemptive approach prevents exploitation of security vulnerabilities (known and even unknown!) with no loss of functionality...

and another good one...

send referer

http://labs.beffa.org/sendreferer/

When visiting a webpage, your browser send the referer which is the URL of the previous webpage from which a link was followed. Some web sites log referers, for advertising or other purposes. Eventually you want to never send out the referer information to increase you privacy.

Features

* Allow to send referer header when openning a link with right-click menu. (ie: to be able to download from a site with anti-leech feature)
* Without referer header otherwise to increase your privacy
* CTRL+Click to open in a new tab, SHIFT+Click to open in a new window

How it Works

Browse the web as usual, except that your browser won't send referer header. When you come across a link you can't follow without referer, right click on it and use "Open Link with Referer Header". Sending Referer Header will be enable for 7 seconds and then it will go back to no referer mode.

Rapidshare Links Checker Automatically checks rapidshare.com and and filefactory.com links from the page that you are visiting - If the link is dead this script puts a red line through it.....saves you going to rapidshare only to see that the download has been withdrawn.
The Cavern Universal Links Checker - as above but includes more sites
Rapidshare Helper - Get rid of them cats (not tested by me but has good reports)

There are tons of scripts to make google look nice, search what you want to search (no adds ect), Same for Gmail.
