hi there i have used eurovox for a few years now, what i am asking there is a new box that says it is HD, what channles can it pick up and why use the box if the tv is already had any help please tia

The new ex7000 hd box gives you the ability to receive HD linear channels via the Virgin platform, at present this is only BBC HD but 4 more channels are planned to be launched in April. The new box upscales current SD content so some improvement will be seen on normal programs. Hope this helps

What?

If your tv is HD ready or full HD which means it can recieve a HD signal.

The eurovox is not HD and and doesnt send a HD signal as such.

The eurovox HD is able to decode and send a HD signal to your hd tv,it does this via a hdmi cable.

If your in the UK then youll get bbc HD and if your in ireland then nothing.

Absolute waste of money and the fact that the boxes probably wont see past august makes it a very stupid buy tbh.

Also this question was answered 5 threads down, maybe you could search???

@ Dewillia, the tv already upscales the picture and it would do a far better job than a cheap cable reciever.Using a hdmi cable on a non hd signal will show up imperfections if anything.

yes m8 .. do you know somethin we dont !!

I didnt mean exactly august,at some stage this year they will be changing encryption. They are already starting to send out new cards in ireland and uk wont be far behind.

Its been mentioned loads of times in the dreambox forum and other sites and is pretty much common knowledge tbh.

If your in ireland and do a scan a channel will appear somewhere, showing this ad

You say these won't make it past August? I don't understand how you can claim this as these boxes are driven by software. Surely, all these boxes will need is another bit of software!? Obviously producing the software will be THE task, but to state that the hardware will be useless is maybe a bit presumptious?

Are you gona crack it?
How easy do you think it is?

It takes years.Of course the hardware is still ok but the eurovoxes are closed source software aswell, which means that if they change encryption and it is hacked a year later, the manufacturers of these boxes are unlikely to bother releasing a fix, instead they would release a new model.

The hardware will be useless to 99% of folk who buy them if they change encryption unless you are content watching 4 fta channels.

The manufacturers of these boxes dont crack encryption, its dreambox and sat enthusiasts.

Companies like eurovox then decompile the emu and make it work with their boxes, you can be guaranteed that if the new encryption is hacked it will be done by enthusiasts who will do everything they can to stop companies like starview or eurovox using their code.
The whole ehtos relies on open source software so others can help along the way,the manufacturers of these boxes are leeches, who rely on the work of others to profit themselves.

the way the encryption works will be changing so sooner or later you wont be able to get any channels unless you have subscribed
waste of money in my opinion buying the ex 7000 hd as the tv already upscales at the moment and since there are very few true hd channels you can view so not worth the while although august its a little to soon it will happen so enjoy whilst you can
