epg location reverts back to internal flash

hi guys i have vu+duo and solo both are original boxes and both have epg set to download onto usb sticks...they seem to revert back to internal flash?......i have bh images latest 1.7.9 on both....heres the log of the vu+duo which crashed yesterday when i noticed that it reverted back to internal flash, so when i checked the mount manager...it crashed and gave me a green screen..any ideas as to whats happening and why..?

Sorry, don't have an exact answer for you, but hope the following helps.

Epg is reverting to internal flash owing to a delay/failure to mount the USB (probably why it crashed). There is no need to store the epg onto a USB drive, it is better to store the epg onto a HDD. There will be no extra wear on the HDD as it is not read/written constantly.

thats fine for the duo as i have a 1Tb drive in it, but the solo hasnt got a drive has to be a usb flash drive, adding a usb powered hard drive would make it worse i presume....adding a external hard drive in a enclosure is not possible with my solo as i dont have spare sockets all ready using an extension...

If you're using CrossEPG then the link with the fixes should work but I would personally compare the files I've modded and uploaded to those already on the box as I do know that on ViX the files have been slightly altered to those you'd get with the default CrossEPG package.
 
Ive been using IAmATeaf's fixes on my Dreambox for ages now and works like a charm

I use the fixed crossepg IPK and then transfer the .py file over to

ipk to tmp and install via box menu

.py: unzip and copy the file crossepg_loader.py to the folder /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/CrossEPG,
delete the file crossepg_loader.pyo and then reboot enigma2.

For the Solo it may be worth trying another USB stick as i know some do have compatibility issues not just with VU's but other linux receivers as well.

so do you just install just that 1 .py file you have posted...what about the other 2 as posted by Iamateaf?

cant install the .ipk crosseog....doesnt extract...when trying to install it says

"no such directory...opkg:6375a316aa_mispel.ipk.
collected error:
failed to extract control file from 6375a316aa_mispel.ipk
execution finished"
 
what I did (on 800SE) that was having the same problems
install the crossepg ipk that has pre configured fixes from IAmATeaf (in post 6)

then ftp the .py file to locations explained in post 6

reboot box and then go and configure crossepg in the settings :)

Ive never had it revert back to intenal flash since mate

I dont see why it wont work on the VU

Menu
Setup
Software Management
Install Local Extensions
and install it :)

maybe you will have to remove the old crossepg first ??

nope...still dont install...removed crossepg from sytems/plugin folder...rebooted vu...tried to install again but wont have it...what image is this working on...i dont like VIX....love blackhole..
 
as said mate I installed this on a 800SE
being as its E2 I would imagine they are basically the same setup

sorry I cant help with VU :(

Im sure someone will advise you :)

Fegals is that file got the fixes included that are needed ?
 
yes thats what i had as i had a backup of my image for blackhole 1.7.9...just reflashed..
 
they included a fix from IAmATeaf which is the ipk in post 6
he also requested them to add the .py fix to it it that is still pending :)

thats the reason I asked if it included the fix(s)

yeah that would be great.....if the fix was included in the above...as my internal flash is on 95% in use...!!!!!!!!!!
 
mate I know it dont work for you but the first dix is already done :) the second is easy to ftp over


I think it works as IAmATeaf states to them that the error happens on his duo and asks them again to add the .py fix

hopefully IAmATeaf will confirm this
