A US company is planning to market a technology that can turn a conventional DVD player into a games machine.
Zoo Digital said in a statement that its DVD Extra product will transform the passive playback medium into an interactive entertainment device.
The company has signed a three-year deal to develop interactive games for Celador, the creator of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?.
The first ***le will be a DVD version of the quiz show that will enable people to play at home.
The second ***le is The Pepsi Chart Music Quiz featuring DJ Neil Fox.
Both ***les will be available at Christmas, with further ***les to follow in 2003.
The development could move the games machine war away from simple technology devices like the Xbox and PlayStation consoles
