DS Lite & R4

Hi E/one,

Not usually in here but got a qic question,

a m8 said can you do ds games for his daughter,i said yes as long u have a r4 card,which he did...

So i thought it would be just d/l the roms and copy & paste to his games folder,now ive done that they dont seem too work,ive clicked on create sav file and says game loading but only get a white screen,is there s/thing iam missing,ive read after searching that some games dont work how can i tell before loading them in?

I think its a cloan R4 aswell

if it is a dslite might be worth getting an orginal r4 card.
newer games dont work on most r4 clones.

oriiginal r4's are really cheap and if you put woods firmware will play everything....

to be honest m8,
i can't think which card it is.

the only super r4 card i can see is at the bottom of the r4 section, but that was last updated in 2009.
but then again it could be the r4III card which is 9th down on the r4 list...

to be honest all these r4 clones are a nightmare and not worth the hassle.

the new games you are putting on probably aren't working because the firmware is out of date....
newer games have alot of antipiracy features on them which stops the older cards playing the games.

newer cards like the acecard get updated regularly to overcome this,

but with some of these old r4 clones,
even if updates are available, finding the correct firmware for your card can be very difficult....

if you do try to update the firmware, remember to back up the sd card first...

a good trick when searching for new firmware (when you are unsure)is to look at the firmware already on the card.
if you then go to that page i posted search for firmware that looks similer,
this will help narrow down your search....
then its just trial and error and afraid.......

micro sd 2g,looks like he needs to update his r4 card

i am wondering if that is just an original r4 card with a fancy stcker on it.

what i would do is:

1. backup the sd to computer (so you can restore sd card if this doesn't work)

2. try woods firmware on it.

once you have backed up sd card, delete everything that isn't a game or save file

then download woods firmware.

extract files and put dsmenu.dat file and rpg folder onto the root of the sd card.

see how you go with that.

if it doesnt then just restore the sd card using the backup on your computer....

i have never seen that card before but original r4 cards can only use sd cards upto 2gigs,
that is why i think it is an original r4 card.....
