Does the dm 500s have pvr?

can u stick an external hdd to it and watch movies u have dowloaded or recorded with it? ive never had any experience with it so im asking in advance as im going to take the plunge. ps can it play back avi from an hdd too?

No Dm500 does not have the capibility for an internal or external hard disk and direct PVR functions. You need a DM600 PVR, for these features.
You can however record to a Network mounted device such as a NAS box..

The 600 on the whole is a better device, more RAM onboard, hard disk capibility means you get PVR and capibility to use a 7 day EPG etc..
About 90ish quid for a clone 600s, a 500 is 60ish quid.

can you record 1 channel and watch another on the dm600 or is it only if the 2 channels are on the same transponder?

Single tuner reciever so you can record one channel and watch another only on the same transponder.
Tuners are plug and play, swappable..betweeen sat, cable and terestrial.
