default program disassociation

i have a accidently set notepad as the recommended default program of a certain file type (.bn11). vista will not allow me to remove notepad from the list to leave it blank.

how do i overcome this?

couldnt find it under..\filexts, u sure it should be there? i'm using vista

Is your .bn11 in FileExts?

EDIT : Looking through google a lot of people have the same problem but with the .exe extension

I'm running xp so can't clarify but maybe you could post your .bn11 file for those running Vista to find a solution

could not insert attachment for some strange reason, never done it before.

as for solving this problem, i'm starting to think the only way to solve it is to reinstall vista (which is currently not an option). i will leave this thread open in the air in hope that someone can finally help me solve this riddle. thank you to those who tried to help me
