Hi guys,

im having a few probs with my pc lately but just noticed that my cpu is running at 55 degrees and the cpu fan is on constantly, it this right??

Err yes m8 thats fine the CPU fan should run all the time, the mobo bios will control the fan speed. 55deg is fine for temp, if it starts to go above 70deg then you may need to start worrying, although if its working really hard you may see upto 75deg..
Theres a good guide HERE ;)

Have fun

Depends what cpu you got, and what the pc is doing when it's at 55`
My c2d is at 40` now and the fan at 950rpm, I've been gaming but it's only at idle now.
So if your just on the net then 55` could be to high, need more pc spec.

Mate that guide is donkeys years old.

I think he is running a Q6600 but not sure.

If so and that is idle then you are at the higher end of the temperature scale.

You should be looking low to mid 40's for idle and in the 60's for load. 50's if you can get it. (GO stepping CPU, B3 is hotter).

Did you apply aftermarket silver compound? If so then remember that it takes a lot of hours for it to settle, say maybe 200 hours for you to get your real long terms temps.

If your undure then clean it off and re-apply, remember just a thin layer, enough to just cover the writing on the CPU will do, too much will mess it up.
