connecting to the net via NIC xbox360

i am trying to help a mate connect his xbox 360 to the internet, on the xbox it says download some software whcih we have done and when we run it, it says can not connect or find the xbox.

We have it connected like this.

xbox 360 > back of pc network card.

Modem

His modem is via USB

We get an error saying " dns server could not be reached "

have you got internet connection sharing enabled for the nic the 360 is connected by

have you added the primary dns to the xbox which the pc connects to?

ah, i don't think so....what wud that be....

you need to go into command prompt and the type ipconfig /all

it will come out with aload of stuff. u need to find the device which is plugged to modem. it will then say what the DNS is. write it down and add it to the network settings on xbox

do i need a crossove cable ?

you need RJ45 male/male category 5 patch cable and connect to your hub


I Can connect this from the xbox to the back of the pc i.e to the network card ?
