connecting cable feed to tv

a friend of mine connected his cable feed to his tv, did a auto auto search and picked up around 20 channels....half of them were premium channels like sky sports and sky movies. he is only paying for the basic package.
i tried the same on my tv in the bedroom and only got sky news and sky one.
has anyone tried it on their tv?????

yes this happens on most tv sets.

if ure tv is one off the first digital tvs then u can pick up most of the channels but if its a new on ie 2-3 years old then u can get cartoon network bbc news sky news and the normal channels (1-5) also sky one has gone off in my area now

If you have a tv that can scan vhf as well as the usual uhf 21-69 you will pick up severall analogue premium channels unscrambled

i managed to lock on to skysports...though teh soung was clear the picture was very bad ....any idea how i can improve the signal ??? maybe a booster?

thats a channel that is just out of the tuneable range
