cd/ dvd drive

Just recently been having a prob with the dvd drive on my laptop, When i insert a dvd it makes a whole series of clicky and whizzing noises (not the kind when its loading) Before eventually telling me it is a blank cd and/or there is nothing in the drive.

This just started 2day as i was playying a dvd on it last night. And i have all the codecs etc for playing dvd's

Any ideas??

P.S Running a dell inspiron 2200 with windows Xp home.

U could try different kinds of media in the drive.
i.e. Store Bought DVD/CD's, DVD+R, DVD-R, CD-R, CD-RW, Blank, Data, Movie, Music etc.
Is it the same?
Make sure the disks are clean.
Try using a Prog like Ahead Disk Info tool. What does that say?

I have to say I guessing ure drive is FUBAR.

Seems 2 be only movie dvds its having a problem with, Not used the tool yet tho will do that Soon
