Can signal Quality interfere with ecm times????

Hi

Been getting very bad ecm times, on my dm800, every 5 secs getting picture breakup, and times jumping to above 1.00.

Just wondering if a bad signal quality from the dish can interfere with the times. Because its snr 75 and 65 on some channels.

Because don't think its a network problem.

Yes, it can cause problems. Although technically the system should be pretty resistant (the same ecm is often transmitted upto 100 times within a 8-10 second window) there's quite a bit of sloppy coding done in the dreambox which can cause various problems when incorrect data is extracted from the stream.

Part of the problem is that duplicates may be found be checking only a small number of bytes from the ecm (typically 8 of them) for a match. If these 'signature' bytes match a previously incorrectly extracted ecm then the new real ecm may be ignored until the 'signature' bytes change again (signifying a new ecm) meaning your box misses a full ecm period (thus no pictures for 8-10 secs).
