yeah don't be silly with the speakers though if you are going to plug straight into mp3 device, its designed to use head phones, you are not gonna drive misson speakers..........with that.

Use the line input on the wharfedale and keep the volume at halfway on the sony to avoid distortion

Yep you should be able to just replace the headphones with a speaker, i used to do it when going on holiday, saves buying a boombox every year!
