Buying an insurance write-off

As title, what problems etc are there with buying one assuming the repair is done correctly and the car/price are good.
 
the only problem is when u try to sell
if its a cat C then it will be on the logbook and u have to take it to a vic test

if its a cat d it wont say on log book but it will be on hpi history

if u buying to sell then go for a cat X / unrecorded
 
trouble when you buy them you may never know what you buy,i was in my mates garage and he was telling me of a car someone wanted the roof welded back on from another car as it sounded like fire brigade cut someone out.
he said no way would he weld it as a weld only does the outside of metal,car will not have any strength and be lethal if put on road:banana:
 
I think it depends on what exactly the damage was. The damage I've seen on some Cat Ds I reckon could go back on the road with no ill effects if repaired properly, whereas I've seen others that would never be quite the same again.


I'd personally avoid.
