Dear Customer,

Great news! Your broadband monthly rental is coming down!

We're delighted to tell you that we'll be reducing the monthly fee on
your BTopenworld Broadband service from 1st April 2002.

This means that your current monthly rental fee of £39.99 will be
reduced to only £29.99.

You don't have to do anything, as the reduction will be made
automatically from your April bill onwards.

So now your high speed world of faster emailing, surfing, downloading
and online gaming will be even better value!

Hopefully there will be further price cuts on the way since BT are now only charging the ISP's £14.75 a month for what they are passing onto us for £29.99 a month.

I got the same message david but as cos says it still needs to come down a fair price would be £19.99 I think

From pipex dials website,'From 1 April 2002, the monthly subscription cost for PIPEX Xtreme Solo will be reduced to £19.95 ex VAT (£23.44 inc. VAT).'Not bad for adsl, pity my exchange isn't upgraded yet. I havent tried pipex because Im with openworld but it doesnt matter who your isp is when you have broadband, the bandwidth is supplied by BT so they should all perform as good as each other, this new pricing structure which has been released yesterday should open up the market for competition and drive down the price of broadband.

One thing I do know is that the government wants broadband to be available to all at £5 per month by the end of 2003. Now that is good news.

Good Old f2s are doing broadband now £22.50 month
Http://www.f2s.com

I had a look at these sites and the prices are very keen I am currently with openworld who have just reduced the price to £29.99 and as my year is nearly up I have told them about the £22.90 deal for which they have said at this point they wont match but if I wish to change they will remove the adsl line and modem FOC (WOOO) but the other providers are looking on average £175 installation fee and who comes to replace it yep youve guesed it our old friends BT There shaould be a law against that.

Theres one thing im not getting, How much is it going to cost me if i wanted broadband inc, installation + monthly fee's. i understand i can put it though my router rather than buying a £100 adsl modem?

Sorry For the stupid question but both the BT and Pipeline dont have strat up prices + im not the britest spark with words

Thanks

Yes broadband can be put through a router whatever isp you choose tell them you want the home start kit only i.e the diy kit it will save the instalation fee just follow the instructions monkeyspunks and you will be able to install yourself and only pay the monthly rental

Cheers for your reply, How do i set it up my self i though that BT had to put a adsl line in?

monkeyspunks you get a converter from them for you own phone line ask them for the the self install home kit ADSL works from the exchange all they do is set a card which is shared up to 5 people with adsl the rest you can do yourself when my year runs out I am going down that road
