Hi all
1st thing i have to say is im a newbie to this scene
So if i ask silly questions bear with me.
I acquired a psp which i believed to be bricked after a lot of reading
But after reading up i realised
that the motherboard being changed would fix it.
So i went on a search only to find £50 was the cheapest
After a little more seaching i found this on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=230101612087&rd=1&rd=1

He has a good rep so i mailed him to find out how to tell if mine could be done
He then sent me a pic of the one that couldnt be done

So this would mean my psp is not so bricked as i thought
Now to my question how do i sort it myself
I would have thought it would be with a willem
But that would void the warrenty
And in his pic it mentions how not to void it
Hes away till Sunday but i would like to do it myself
Anyone got any ideas?

the U.P mentioned in the pic is the Undiluted Platinum mod chip afaik.

the reason for the pic is that the U.P mod chip dosent work on ta-082 mother boards (ic1003) shown on the top right of the motherboard behind the UMD door.

so if your MB isnt a ta-082 you could fix it with the mod chip but i have no idea how this is done, im guessing some soldering is required.

Hi again
Found what i need and a tut
I think im gonna pay the £60 hes asking to do it
The mod chip costs about $70 or 53 euro
And it involves soldering about 20 or so points
And whats more they are to the tracks on the board
so a lot of care is needed.
Basically the chip will then run in paralell with the original
Just in case anyone wants to see what i mean
Heres a link to the site that does em the tut that is

it looks extremely fiddly to do.
not something i would attempt :)

but once done it wont brick again and you have the choice of booting from 2 firmwares from what i have read.

He is just charging for the unbricking, not to install a mod chip from what I've read. He can't do TA082's which is why he is sending you the above picture to clarify it.
£60 to repair plus you will have to post it to him for about £6.
Might be worth buying a new one for £100 (Amazon pink one!) and selling your faulty one on ebay as faulty. You'd probably get £60+ for yours so with that and the £66 you are gonna have to spend you could have a loverly new one.

Just a thought :)

The amazon pink I got for daughter was fw 2.81 TA-082 motherboard. Now running 3.10OE-A, cos the 3.03 downgrader works on TA-082 so they're not a worry now. Dunno if they have any left, though.

Guys,

He will almost certainly be fitting a UP to unbrick then removing it followed by reapiring the 1 track you have to severe to install the modchip. But does he mention it wont void your warranty?

it must void your warranty as he is soldering a chip to it even if he removed the chip and it went wrong again i would send you it back sayings its been tampered with as they would be solder marks left
