Telewest Broadband's blueyonder ISP launched its £35 wireless self-installation kit today, bringing the total number of install options available to customers to three.

An engineer visit costs £50, a wireless self-install kit £35, and a wired self-install pack is £12.50. Telewest's director of Internet Services, Chad Raube, said:

"No other British ISP offers a wireless broadband installation and we can now provide one at a price that puts most of our competitor's standard self-installation packs to shame.

"We already offer a choice of access speeds with our blueyonder services and now you can choose from a comprehensive range of installation options too. Those customers who choose a wire-free connection can look forward to even more freedom online and an end to unsightly wires."

The kit provides a Netgear access point pre-configured to work with Telewest's digital TV box, which can be used to provide broadband internet access through an in-built cable modem. At present it is available in all Telewest Broadband blueyonder-enabled franchise areas, except ex-Eurobell.

Telewest points out that it is against its terms and conditions for the wireless connection - which can reach up to 150m indoors and 250m outdoors - to be shared with adjoining properties or with the general public.
