Here's an old one then.
A guy goes to a pet shop and asks for a talking parrot. The owner says he sold the last one an hour ago, but he's still got one talking centipede left. Hmmm ok says the guy and he gets a little box to keep him in.
Later on at home he feels thirsty and so he shouts over to the box "hey Polly do you fancy coming down the pub".
There is a silence… 15 minutes later he shouts at the box again " hey Polly do you fancy coming down the pub".
The centipede shouts " I heard you the first time mate, I'm just putting my boots on".
