Blocking MSN Messenger On My Router

do you want it blocked for good or is it just the router??

if you want to get rid of it, you can remove from windows components in add and remove from control panel..

if you want to block it in the router, you need to write MSN in the service type.. add the ip addresses that your router transmits and the ones you want to block.. (this can be done by typing ipconfig on comand prompt)

only thing is that you need TCP IP settings which you can find from MSN log on your router..

Found a list of ports msn used on google, (http://www.mcse.ms/showthread.php?t=510581), block these (probably get away with just the main one if you want to block the whole program). The application will still run, but not be able to access the net.

tried blocking 1863 but it was able to sign in,
then blocked port 443 and that seems to have done the trick

thanks guys

Never tried it but that sounded like your issue.

damn,
just realised that blocking port 443 also blocks me from signing into pages like my ebay and o2 sign in for example,
just doesnt access any sign in pages so had to unblock port 443
