For those of you who buy a Japanese import (Mmmm, Enamel Navy) or whos friends/siblings think its funny to change the language options here are the instructions to change the language settings (this is based on the DS having already been set up):

Change the language

1. Remove all games from the Nintendo DS.

2. Turn the system on by pressing the POWER button.

3. Tap the screen using the stylus when the "Touch the Touch Screen to continue" message appears.

4. When the main menu appears, use the stylus and tap on the Settings Menu Panel at the bottom middle part of the screen.

7. Tap the box for the language you wish to choose.

8. Tap the bottom-right box to confirm the selection (it says "Confirm" if the menu is in English).

9. Wait for the the confirmation message to disappear, then tap "Go Back," then "Quit," then "Yes" to exit. The unit will shut down automatically to save the settings.

If you have a new DS the first screens to display will be to set up your DS. To fill these in 'blind', the screens are as follows: Nickname, Favourite colour, Date, Time, Birthday.
