hello chaps, I'm just setting up a Multi LNB set up and I need to know which transponders on 13E and 19.2E are the strongest for some fine tuning.

Regards and that

Try these m8

19.2 east 10744H 22000 Arte
13 east 11137H 27500 Bloomberg Europe

Al Jazeera has FTA channels on both satellites as follows:-
Astra 1 19.2 east ~ 11.508 V 22000 5/6
Hotbird 13 east ~ 11.034 V 27500 3/4

Hi ripper, wiz569 & kopernikus,

I always get better results doing the opposite on the larger groups of satellites... I fine tune the communal position to the weakest TP on Astra 1H/1KR/1L/1M/2C at 19.2°E and Eutelsat Hot Bird 13A/13B/13C at 13.0°E ...it's a bit like the old adage "take care of the penny's and the pounds will look after themselves"

When you have really powerful groups of satellites like these are... I find that the signal strength/signal quality of the strongest TP's never dips very much no matter how much you tweak the dish position... whereas the weakest TP's can then be left with much poorer signals... or can even disappear below the receivers' locking threshold... however... this is only evident with TP's on the Astra satellites...

Nearly all of the TP's on the Hotbird satellites are very strong... however... there is one TP that regularly shows 10% weaker signal quality than all of the other TP's on the satellites... so I always set the communal positions of the respective satellite groups with my weakest TP's...

Astra 1H/1KR/1L/1M/2C at 19.2°E
12.722 H [22000] 5/6 DVB-S [QPSK] 33.8 Mbps [Astra 1L Europe Beam]

Eutelsat Hot Bird 13A/13B/13C at 13.0°E
12.731 H [29900] 5/6 DVB-S [QPSK] 45.9 Mbps [Hot Bird 13C Europe Beam]

Let us know how you get on...

Best Wishes,
Zorch

Hi Guys
sorry to butt in
any suggestions for 26 east Zorch

I would agree with zorch about the weaker transponders but the op specifically asked for the strongest hence the ones I suggested :)

Hi Darklordsbane,

Strongest or Weakest TP on Badr 4 at 26.0°E...?

I suspect you would mean strongest TP seeing as it is a bit 'fringe reception' here in the UK...?

Best Wishes,
Zorch

Astra 1H/1KR/1L/1M/2C at 19.2°E
12.722 H [22000] 5/6 DVB-S [QPSK] 33.8 Mbps [Astra 1L Europe Beam]

SNR 69-73% AGC 92% no lock.

Eutelsat Hot Bird 13A/13B/13C at 13.0°E
12.731 H [29900] 5/6 DVB-S [QPSK] 45.9 Mbps [Hot Bird 13C Europe Beam]

SNR 69% and AGC 92% no lock. It's pissing it down so I'll wait for better weather. Thanks and that ...

My method is to initially locate the satellite by using a strong transponder, then switch to a weaker one and fine tune from there.

Instead of quoting you my strongest & weakest TP's on Badr 4... I thought I would cut to the chase and give you a list of all the TP's and signal readings I receive on the satellite... you can then use the info to judge for yourself... I always peak my signal strength/signal quality on the first TP on this list... my satellite set-up is detailed in my signature...
