I go to Egypt quite a lot and find its better to change your notes over there.
Take pound notes if you can and if you do take travelers cheques , don,t let
the travel agents con you in to taking dollars, as they are low as it is, and
can drop even lower while you are there. Take sterling ( english ) cheques
and don,t change them in the hotels or egyptian banks. There are always
loads of thomas cook exchanges about, and they give a better rate. I was
in Sharmal in march and the rate was 11 egyptian to the pound. I,m going
back in september for two weeks. Where are you staying ???

P.S. Don,t change all your dosh at once , cos when booking out and you have
any bills , they like you to pay in foreign currency. Also if you fancy a dabble
in the casino,s, they use american dollars only, they do take other currency
which they change into dollars for you.
They will only take egyptian money at the bar for drinks etc , but not for
gambling. Hope this helped.
