Before I start messing about with softmod on my hardmodded wii...Do I need to update?

As the title says, Im on hardmodded wii firmware 3.2e. I'm wanting to play the new mario game, but obviously can only do this using softmod. BUT how do I go about updating my firmware? Do I need to do this or can I stay on 3.2e and use softmod to play the new mario game without having to upgrade to say 4.2?????

just plug a usb drive in and set up wiiflow.

Easy as that then? Ive installed the homebrew, so now for wiiflow. Is it easy? Have you got a guide?
