Right guys..got the cartridge refitted it tap working fine but top of tap is wet..does it need some sealant? Will ptfe tape work around the threads of the fitting that screws into the tap?

Check this video, from 6m 30s.
No need for TPFE tape as the top must be screwed on tightly enough to compress the rubber or silicone seal of the cartridge.

Cheers exactly same as mine...i didn't have any silicone grease, will get it tonight

All done..no leaks .neighbour had silicon grease ..borrowed his

Well ..thought I'd fix the leak, why is water still seeping through the shroud head ? I sealed it with silicone sealant , tightened it , not too tight bit top of tap still wet, not a lot of water bit enough to make me take it off again

Did you cleanup the flange where the seal sits against it. I would also nip it up a bit more also.
