A friend of mine is a few steps away from claiming £4500 worth of bank over charges dating back 7 years.

This is because the office of fair trading has fixed the amount that it is fair to charge (£20 for a letter is unreasonable).

Those who have persevered have had out of court settlements, ie: the banks don't want anyone to win a case or else they'd have to pay us all back!

Great sites to help you win:

This is the one I used - worked a treat!

http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1141050760,24632,

I had incurred a £40 fine because i was 7 pence sort when Paypal tried to get money for ebay. Went to bank to complain they looked down their nose at me.

Followed the instructions and 2 weeks later got my cash back.

They will threaten to close your account, tell you it's your fault but they ALWAYS back down.

Great sites wish I'd thought to post it myself, Cheers!
