baby chip programmer problem

hello ive just bought a baby chip programmer from cardmans and need to now which sockets to put the 8 wires in from the u50 chip out of a sa4000dvb box to read the hex, ive tried following the tutorial but its for an elvis programmer can anyone help ? the socket on the baby has 18 holes.

This is what i do, solder a wire to each leg of the chip then solder those wires to an 8pin socket then just plug the socket into your 18 pin socket making sure that pin1 on the chip is connected to pin1 for eeproms in your socket on your programmer.

i used baby to do pic12c509.s and it only woked on a 98os pc
