Wonder if anyone can advise whether it is difficult to obtain pistons for the above engine. The guy at Essex Engines has had the car for two months doing a recon
and the latest excuse [after many] is that he's waiting for a piston that is on order.
Is it that difficult to get these parts, and does it really take two months for a recon. Most grateful for your help.

Thanks for your reply Dutcho....think were being taken for a ride... the car is my daughters and she broke down one evening and the car was transported to local garage who decided it was not possible to repair the it and could only fit a new engine ... £4000/5000. As this was too expensive decided on a recon engine by Essex Engines , although 50 miles away, and they would pick it up, at a lower realistic price. They said it would take about a week, but after weekly calls and over two months later, the last excuse was they were waiting for a piston from newcastle...... cant believe its so difficult to get a piston for that model, and one wonders why its not possible to repair this engine. Makes you wonder whether the garage is waiting to pick up a working engine from a crash job.
