Any electrician about?? In need of some advice

I've been a cock, took down the light at the top of the stairs and thought i'd remembered where everything went.

Nope!!, got distracted and now i've no idea where anything goes.

Anyone give me a clue?

how many light switchs for that light..? i cant tell you whats is what by the pic,

this is not going to be easy to sort out as you have no sleeving on them to tell you what the hot wires are ?

only way i could work this out would be with a multimeter to find out what wire is doing what

when you say 2 light switches, do you mean its a two way switch?
looking at your pic in the 3 cables that are mucky there is a twin red that is a switch wire , the other cable that is longer looks like a add on to feed anouther light etc etc, if you are running a two way, drop your switches forward and tell us what wires you have in the switches (dont take them out of the switch)
at a guess in 1 switch you will have a twin red and a 3 core(red,yellow,blue) in the other it should be red,yellow,blue

3 twins together and twin red as switch wire.

In the end i had a friend round and its just as you said. 2 way switch and feed to another room.
