Guys,

helping a mate out....he has this system already in place:
Video surveillance - Digital Video Recorders DVR - MX-16 Digital Video Recorder 16ch

he has 4 cameras already installed and wants to add two more.
can i add the following two with these cables?

2x Sentient 700 TVL Wired Outdoor Camera With 25m Night Vision | Maplin

with

Sentient CCTV BNC and Power Cable 30m | Maplin

also, the cable is a few meters short, whats the best thing to do to attach another say 5 meter cable to it?

just to say, the current quality of the cameras arent all that. but he can view it on his phone and his laptop at home as they are IP. Will these cameras be able to be viewed remotely as well? is it more dependant on the DVR system?

The DVR does the IP part to the iPhone so attaching any more camera's should be present on his phone as well, You can attach another extension cable onto the 30m one but your going to need BNC couplers for the Video part and also dont forget to get the PSU's for the camera's unless they are included in the price.

There are different ways of doing it if you have Cat5e then you can run that and use the hardwire Cat5e baluns or the all in one Ethernet Baluns, Or buy some RG6 with power although as your only doing it as a favour then your first choice with the pre-made cables will do the job
