AMD Difference

I am in the process of building a new set up. I bought the Giga GA 7DX Motherboard and I am confused which processor to put in it. The main objective I have in mind is speed. The AMD XP1500(266) is cheaper to buy than the AMD 1.4gig(266) but what is the difference. Someone told me that the 1.4 is actually quicker than the 1.5. Can ayone advise which to get.

The 1.4 is quicker - the 1500 rating on XP chip realtes to the intel equivalent speed and not the Mhz it actually runs at

Someone else has confirmed that the 1.4 is quicker but says that the 1500 works out quicker for speed when having most bench marks applied. Do you know if this is the case?

i have a gigabyte GA-7dx and the xp 1500+(1333) and i have a m8 that has a p4 1700 and my comp outperformes or is equal to his in benchmarks and games we both have geforce graphics cards and same amount of memory xsept his is rambus mem and mine is ddr (256mb 2100)

the 1400 has better performance in raw terms due to faster clock speed but is outperformed by the xp1500+ in most things due to the xp having sse which is used by loads of programs now and, better arcitecture it eccesses memory alot quicker than the 1400 and better bandwith

Get the 1500 (1333 MHZ) and overclock it to 1500 mhz, then you'll definatly cane the 1.4 <img src="smile.gif" border="0">
