For short distances you don't need expensive optical leads, a cheap unbranded one from the pound shop or ebay will perform just as well as a £20+ lead. (And I've got a £25 1m IXOS cable!)
For the RCA lead it depends on where you've placed the sub - more than a few feet away from the amp I'd be looking at a more expensive cable. But still wouldn't pay more than £5 for a 3m cable (perhaps £10 with copper prices being what they are).
