Activision Blizzard has confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops will include zombies.
Treyarch, the studio producing Black Ops, was also responsible for the World at War edition of the franchise which contained the original Nazi zombie game.
In a statement on Activision Blizzard's official site, Mark Lamia, head of Treyarch, announced: "Zombies have been such a hit with our community that we were committed to bringing brand new zombie experiences to Call of Duty: Black Ops. We've taken extra special care to retain the essential ingredients of our zombie game, and have also crafted a nice surprise for the fans."
Speculation regarding the mode had been reignited recently following an interview Lamia gave to CVG discussing the evolution of the mode and referencing the 'Nazi zombie horde' in the official strategy guide.
The mode will see fans combat the zombie apocalypse in up to four-player gameplay in the Cold War-era game.
Call of Duty: Black Ops will be released worldwide on November 9.
