OS acer aspire one, win7 to xp

Greetings all, i have a problem with an acer aspire one which someone installed win 7 on. As you can imagine, it isn't running too well at all only having a gig of ram.
I tried installing win xp back onto it, but neither flash or external disc drive instalation methods pick up the hdd , any ideas how i can get xp back on this machine.
Apart from the sluggishness it works fine, sort of, so no idea why hdd isn't recognised. It originally had xp on it.

You will need to set the boot device in the bios. Press del or f2 as the lappy is booting and look for boot device or similar and set it to disk or USB depending on your install method

If you go into the bios, check what the sata operation is set to. Windows 7 is normally AHCI, and XP does'nt always like that. Try setting to ATA and seeing if that fixes it.
