800 pvr hard drive

Ive not got a 500gb drive in a esata enclosure that the dreambox just wont see..

Ive even formatted it in ext3 and nothing

Ive tryed mounting in internall.....externally esata usb etc...

although if i log in under dream box control through ie i get

Harddisk (WDC WD50(00BEVT-00A0RT0))
Capacity: 500.107 GB
Free: -1 MB

so it is seeing it!!!


EDIT very odd i set it recording from my web browser but not my control!!!

Might try a new image as this one has been a little iffy!

trying a reformat on my desktop to ext3 see if that helps!!

i formatted and mounted a usb flash drive for my epg and it worked a treat, have a look here this is what i used.

yeah i done the epg on the usb!!!

Ive just reformatted the drive to ext3 and plugged it back in and screen went funny....then it says no displayable files on his medium found!!!

so its seeing the drive!!!

but it wont let me mount it !!!

right ive now got to the stage where i can mount it!!!

i can see it!!!

i can pause!!!

but i if i hit record it goes and switches to radio!!

and my epg keep crashing now !!!

im so near yet so far!

I would reflash the image on, i think it's corrupt somehow. I tried for days to get a drive to work and then reflashed the image and it then worked first time.

have you made a folder on the drive called movie? eg media/hdd/movie because you need that to use the red button as that is were recordings are stored. using timeshift/yellow button that just goes to the hdd, understand?

Also satmate epg can be prone to crashing your box, if you switch of the power and then reboot it the epg will probably work.

I installed gemini and sorted out the hard drive on FTA and now i cant remember what i did to get the encrypted channels lol

I get 1 2 3 etc but sky one for example i get no signal on so it must be something in the tuner settings!!!

You need the folder to record, simples!


You are possibly not getting the rest of the channels because you don't have the cam running with your lines in it, don't think its a tuner isue when you are getting the fta channels.

I wouldn't have put a different image on it, just because the hard drive wasn't right, i would have flashed the same image as you already had, as it was possibly a corrupt flash.
