Coronation Street could go five nights a week, according to the Daily Star today.
The soap currently broadcasts four times a week, but in recent times storylines such as the demise of killer Richard Hillman have called for a fifth episode to capitalise on the drama.
Such a move could become a permanent fixture if ITV are interested, Corrie producer Kieran Roberts told the newspaper.
"It's entirely up to ITV," he said. "If it wants five a week, we'll supply five a week. We wouldn't stand in the way of an extra half-hour if ITV wanted it."
