Why is it that when i do a google search and click on a search result link, on some annoying sites, when i click the back arrow to get back onto the search results, it just refreshes the page i'm on? If i try to be clever and double click the arrow, it puts me on the page before the search results. Argggggg :(

I've come across this too, I get round it by press & hold the back button, then you can usually choose what page you want to go back to from the list. Annoying as you say.

I usually right click the back button but just tried your method and it does the same thing but easier. Cheers :)

Do you know why it happens? Can only assume it's some javascript that the site puts on the page to try and keep you there? :)

Probably some code that just refreshes the page. Purposely done to keep you on the page.

Correct! :)

...

Is there any easy way to circumvent this nonsense? :)

Whoever thinks this is a good idea for business is very much mistaken. It's like going into a shop and the owner gets between you and the door to stop you leaving. One way or another, you are going to get passed him and out, and probably won't bother coming back due to his ****** business policies. :(

Rant over :)

Only as described above or right-click in the page and select Back. Be aware there are different coding methods and different browsers react in slightly different ways.

I usually do 2 or 3 rapid clicks, on the Back button - sometimes works!

That takes me to the page before the search and if i press 1 click forward, i'm back on the site. :( i'm everywhere except on the search page that i want. :) it's as if the page in the middle has disappeared? I wonder how that's achieved?

Maybe if enough people email their complaints to the sites, they will sort it out? ;)

YESSS amazon have also been doing this, it will click back in thier own site but not back to the search engine. It normally takes a few clicks and before you know it your back to before the search arrgggghhh. This is most annoying on mobile which consumes data and is much slower.
